Tamarac Jacket

The Tamarac-style jacket is a timeless piece of fashion and function with roots in North America’s rich history of craftsmanship and practicality. Named after the Tamarack tree, known for its resilience and adaptability, this jacket style embodies durability and warmth.

The Design
Typically quilted or padded, the Tamarac-style jacket is a versatile outerwear piece. A tailored fit, various stitching patterns, and lightweight insulation often characterize it. Its design balances warmth with mobility, making it a favorite for outdoor activities and casual wear.

The History
The jacket draws inspiration from traditional quilted garments, initially created to provide warmth during harsh winters while being lightweight and easy to layer. Over time, the style evolved, influenced by the quilting techniques of Indigenous and settler communities, and eventually became a popular choice for both practical and aesthetic reasons.
